The past year has changed how businesses not only carry out everyday tasks but also hire their employees. The pandemic forced many companies to shift from in-office to remote work quickly. Many people lost their jobs and searched for a new one while figuring out this new only online business model. Companies also had to find new ways to attract talent, onboard, and train while being virtual.

Virtual recruitment strategies are becoming increasingly important tools. They help companies not only hire remote workers but allow the recruiting process to run flawlessly in the middle of a market shift. While virtual recruiting gives up the aspect of meeting a candidate in person, it allows virtual recruiters to reach more candidates and save time and resources.

Below are some tips and strategies to help make virtual hiring easier.

VIRTUAL RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES:

  • Host Virtual Open Houses and Job Fairs

    • Meet your potential candidates and let them get to know and learn more about your company.

  •  Start With Phone Interviews

    • A vital step is vetting candidates to find out if they are a good match. You do this by learning about the individual before deciding to pursue them.

  • Get Comfortable With Video Interviews

    • Seeing people in their home environment gives the unique opportunity to make the interview more personal and offers the option to record the conversation to share with colleagues for feedback and review.

  • Be Ready For Remote Onboarding

    • Onboarding in a virtual environment may seem odd at first but can be beneficial in the long run. Make sure new hires have a thorough welcome email, as well as everything they need from HR, and set up virtual meetings with managers and team members, and ensure that all technology and tools are ready to go on day one.

  •  Virtual Recruitment Strategies and Legal Considerations

    • Video interviews leave a digital footprint that could more easily show up in a courtroom. Interview questions must not violate EEOC guidelines when it comes to maintaining a legal hiring process.

  •  Keep to Your Process

    • Just because your interview format changes doesn’t mean you should change your hiring process. Ask the same questions that have worked in the past but allow for a bit more personalization.

While virtual recruitment and hiring can be hard to navigate at first, incorporating these tips and tools into your current process can make the task a little easier to tackle.
