Juno’s Day at Philabundance

philadelphia top recruitersTaking the time to volunteer as a company not only brings a team closer together, it is both fulfilling and rewarding as well. The Juno team volunteered at Philabundance a few weeks ago. This opportunity was a great way to give back to our community as a team. It allowed us to help support the fight against hunger that so many in our area face daily.

I did not know what to expect when we signed up for a day to help sort donated food. Shortly after arrival we learned a bit more about the organization from a video. Philabundance has different ways that they collect and distribute donations. I was most impressed with how efficient and thoughtful their different methods of distributing food were. For instance, setting up donation centers like a traditional food store allows people to get assistance in a way that ensures as much normalcy as possible in their lives.

After learning more about the organization it was time to start sorting the donated food into various boxes to be shipped to distribution centers. With recruiters this, of course, turned into a “friendly” competition of who could grab the most items to put in the boxes. As the day wrapped up I first felt a sense of accomplishment; the feeling was quickly followed by the sobering thought of how many families rely on Philabundance to assist with their daily nutrition. Donating our time as a team strengthened both the Juno teamand Juno’s ties to the community of Philadelphia.
